The distance between the TV and my sofa from where I want to use the key board / mouse is about 15 ft. Will this work from 15 ft away?

I have just now tested the keyboard and mouse at a measured 21 feet away from the front of my computer (the receiver is plugged into a USB port on the back of the computer) and both functioned correctly.

I have a Samsung smart TV and will this be compatible? I take it that there is a receiver that you plug into the usb port and the TV will pick it up?

Yes it will work with a Samsung Smart TV. In fact I have Samsung Smart TV and it works perfectly. You use the same unifying USB transmitter that you would use on the computer. Just plug it into the USB port on the TV and it recognizes the USB transmitter automatically.

Does it work with mac?

Yes it does, though the command and option keys are switched from their original positions on a mac keyboard.

Does it have a cord?

Honey, this is wireless.no cord.

Is this keyboard silent or do they keys make noise while typing?

The keys make a clicking sounds, certainly. But the sound is somewhat different, maybe more muted, than others keyboards I have used. Awesome keyboard though, and love it. Once I've used it I've never gone back to those flat, rectangle ones.
